Fear. Worry. Feeling unsafe. You get sucked into your thoughts and worries and have trouble getting back to the present.

It’s like trying to climb out of quicksand.

Does it ever feel like life is spinning out of control? Does it come from a place where you’re afraid of losing that control, or maybe afraid that i you give it up, everything will fall apart?

There’s a big difference in feeling a little nervous and feeling totally helpless, worthless, and absolutely out of control. Feeling worried about a big event in your life is very different from feeling terrified of every event. If you’re experiencing these feelings, Christian Counseling for Anxiety can help.

You don’t have to continue living with these feelings from things like:

  • How you look
  • Relationship issues
  • Children
  • What other people think
  • Fear about the future
  • Growing old or being alone
  • Fears that seem “irrational” to everybody else

Anxiety doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.

Fear and anxiety are normal emotions, but sometimes they get out of control and cause trouble in our lives and relationships. And just because you struggle with anxiety, it doesn’t mean you don’t have enough faith. One of the great failures of the church is causing people who struggle with issues in their life to think that somehow their relationship with God isn’t strong enough or good enough. Anxiety disorders are unfortunately very prevalent in our society.

What to expect:

Being nervous about visiting a therapist’s office is a pretty common feeling. It can be terrifying to sit down in front of a stranger and talk about the things in your life that are causing you trouble. We completely understand that this is a scary process. Searching and finding this website was probably a difficult step, but  you’re on the right path. Counseling is not a dirty word. And Christian counseling is the perfect opportunity for you to combine your faith with your goals in life. If your goal is getting better, and finding peace in life again, you’ve successfully taken the first step.

Getting here is half the battle. After working up the nerve to even start searching for help, now you’re faced with what to do next: Do I keep looking around? Do I set up an appointment? Do I really even need help? These are all questions that many people have asked.

When you come here, you’ll find a peaceful and judgement-free zone. Our offices are where people have talked about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some people have made mistakes, and they’re trying to figure out how to fix them. Others have been through really traumatic experiences and are learning how to process those things so they can move forward. Others are struggling with grief and just want to feel “okay” again. No matter the situation, you’ll be in a safe place to share what’s on your heart.

What you’ll get from Anxiety Therapy at Revive Wellness:

  • You’ll be able to stop running from the things that make you anxious, be present, and be able to face your fears.
  • You won’t have to feel like you need to avoid people, places, and situation that cause stress.
  • You’ll be able to acknowledge anxious thoughts when they come up.
  • You’ll be able to connect with other people again.
  • Your relationship with God will improve.
  • You’ll learn what behaviors are healthy for reducing anxiety and what things make it worse.

What the process looks like:

Counseling and therapy is meant to help you get your life back and to stop the automatic negative thoughts that come with anxiety. Together, you and your therapist will work to reduce those thoughts, feelings, dread, and physical responses to anxiety. You’ll figure out how to better manage your symptoms so you can face each moment without fear.

The process usually begins with weekly appointments that are usually around 45-50 minutes. Therapy is best done with at least a six-week commitment. We find that folks who can’t commit to at least six weeks and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty, and the process isn’t as effective. After six weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss your treatment goals, and determine if you should continue weekly, move to bi-weekly appointments, or determine if ending therapy is the next step.
