The only problem is that by the time you’re able to get a grip, you just slide back down. Depression has you in a place of constantly trying to move forward, but you just feel stuck.
Depression can be caused by a lot of things. Sometimes, there may be a biological reason you’re feeling depressed. In many cases, however, depression comes from negative thought patterns. Depression causes pain and concern for lots of people, especially Christians. You might be thinking, “If I’m a Christian, I’m supposed to be happy. Maybe I don’t have enough faith!”
But it’s important to understand this: depression does not equate to faithlessness.
When’s the last time you truly felt happy? Look back on life, and tell me when you truly felt peace. Do you feel loved, valued, and important? Or does life feel more like an endless loop of disappointment and heartache?
Maybe you’re going through a difficult phase or season in life. Perhaps you’re transitioning between jobs, locations, relationships or roles. No matter what you’re going through, there’s no doubt it can feel stressful. And you’re probably here because you’re looking for a way to manage that stress and the sadness, hurt or anger you may feel. Or maybe you’re just looking for something more. There are many emotional issues that find a corner in our heart, and refuse to die down. With time, these issues can transform into a sort of emotional tumor that impacts negatively on our daily life, such as lack of concentration, enthusiasm, self respect, will to change, encouragement, and so on. These issues can spiral into our lives in various ways and can create problems in our relationships with each other and with God, our professional life, and health. We’ll work together to address the root cause of the problem.
First, we’ll use God’s truths to help understand your situation. You’ll have the opportunity to really explore what He says about you: that you are loved. You have value. And you have a specific purpose. Getting your life back can be hard, but it’s an investment worth making.
Additionally, we’ll look at negative thought patterns you’re struggling with, and how it’s impacting your ability to make decisions, create relationships, and find peace and happiness in life.
Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to work to seek balance through emotional healing and inner transformation, as well look at nutritional needs that may be causing imbalance in emotions.

Honestly, if you’re feeling kind of nervous about talking to somebody else about your problems, you’re not alone. And if the thought of coming into a counselor’s office makes your stomach turn, you’re in good company. We completely understand that this is a scary process. Searching and finding this website was probably a difficult step, but I want you to know – you’re on the right path. Counseling is not a dirty word. And Christian counseling is the perfect opportunity for you to combine your faith with your goals in life. If your goal is getting better, and finding happiness in life again, you’ve successfully taken the first step.
Getting here is half the battle. After working up the nerve to even start searching for help, now you’re faced with what to do next: Do I keep looking around? Do I set up an appointment? Do I really even need help? These are all questions that many people have asked.

Throughout this process, you’ll learn how to really process the things you’re feeling. Feelings aren’t a bad thing, but sometimes what they tell us and what’s actually happening are two different things. We’ll look at how you can make your feelings line up more with reality. Maybe it’s that you’re just not sure why you’re so angry or sad all the time. Or maybe somebody has done something to you that you just don’t know how to get past. You’ll learn how to get a handle on all these things to move forward with forgiveness, peace and happiness.

What the process looks like:
Counseling and therapy is meant to help you get your life back and to stop the automatic negative thoughts that come with anxiety. Together, you and your therapist will work to reduce those thoughts, feelings, dread, and physical responses to anxiety. You’ll figure out how to better manage your symptoms so you can face each moment without fear.
The process usually begins with weekly appointments that are usually around 45-50 minutes. Therapy is best done with at least a six-week commitment. We find that folks who can’t commit to at least six weeks and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty, and the process isn’t as effective. After six weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss your treatment goals, and determine if you should continue weekly, move to bi-weekly appointments, or determine if ending therapy is the next step.
