Every day now feels stressful. You’re either numb to the situation, or you’re constantly worried and fearful. If your trauma comes from abuse, the fear intensifies when you’re around people you don’t know.
What to Expect
Being nervous about visiting a therapist’s office is a pretty common feeling. It can be terrifying to sit down in front of a stranger and talk about the things in your life that are causing you trouble. We completely understand that this is a scary process. Searching and finding this website was probably a difficult step, but you’re on the right path. Counseling is not a dirty word. And Christian counseling is the perfect opportunity for you to combine your faith with your goals in life. If your goal is getting better, and finding peace in life again, you’ve successfully taken the first step.
Getting here is half the battle. After working up the nerve to even start searching for help, now you’re faced with what to do next: Do I keep looking around? Do I set up an appointment? Do I really even need help? These are all questions that many people have asked.

What the process looks like:
Counseling and therapy is meant to help you get your life back and to stop the automatic negative thoughts that come with anxiety. Together, you and your therapist will work to reduce those thoughts, feelings, dread, and physical responses to anxiety. You’ll figure out how to better manage your symptoms so you can face each moment without fear.
The process usually begins with weekly appointments that are usually around 45-50 minutes. Therapy is best done with at least a six-week commitment. We find that folks who can’t commit to at least six weeks and meet less than weekly tend to have more difficulty, and the process isn’t as effective. After six weekly sessions, you and your therapist can discuss your treatment goals, and determine if you should continue weekly, move to bi-weekly appointments, or determine if ending therapy is the next step.
